Most DePIN protocols settle transactions on public blockchains, where smart contract data is typically visible to all nodes. In your Daylight energy grid case, if a user’s device state (think battery charge, energy sold) is recorded onchain, anyone could analyze it, revealing personal habits or business operations. In Helium’s telecom network, router locations and usage could expose provider identities or patterns. In wearable tech that collects bio-markers (also considered depin) personal health data is revealed. This transparency is a feature of blockchains for trust and auditability, but it’s a liability for privacy-sensitive use cases. Without mitigation, it will deter adoption by individuals (concerned about surveillance) and companies (worried about competitive disadvantage or regulatory compliance such as GDPR, CCPA). Zk falls short in a one-to-many data security environment and TEEs have the drawbacks of side channel attacks and single point of failure risk. Do you not think that finding a way to handle the sensitive data that DePin deals with is not the #1 barrier to adoption?
