🚨 JAM Services vs Rollups vs Appchains - What’s the real difference? You’ve probably heard: JAM is coming. But what is a JAM Service, really? Let’s cut through the noise. 🔸 Most blockchains today are like servers When you want to deploy an app, you spin up a whole node, maybe even a whole network. Think: Cosmos appchains, Polkadot parachains, rollups on Ethereum. You need governance, security models, bridging logic, and permission to plug in. It’s heavy. It’s slow. It’s not for everyone. 🔸 JAM flips the model Instead of spinning up a server, you spawn a lightweight process. Like opening a browser tab, not renting a whole server farm. You don’t need a slot. You don’t need permission. You write your logic, you upload it, and it runs, with native access to Polkadot’s shared security and messaging. It’s fast, permissionless, and damn flexible. JAM Services are to parachains what threads are to full processes. Smaller. More efficient. Easier to manage. And more composable, too.
