somebody should build an auction-based marketplace for coldkey swaps, complete with a trustless escrow and delivery service. this could apply to subnet & miner coldkeys and would encourage transparency for activities that would: - mitigate selling illiquid alpha - retain stake weight / reputation (for miners) - enable recuperation of reg fees - price discovery for slot #'s with varying tao/alpha pool ratios - onchain provenance for key swap frequency core mechanics: > intent & listing seller would sign a “sale-intent” message that names the coldkey, auction style (dutch, english, sealed-bid), reserve price, and time window. the contract would post this to a public order book. > automatic escrow lock a contract immediately “freezes” that coldkey: it blocks unregister/re-stake calls and moves any ta0/alpha balance into the contract’s custody. neither side can rug. > bidding phase buyers lock their payment (tao, usdc, alphaN, w/e) into the same contract while submitting bids. the contract enforces the auction rules. price countdown for dutch, highest valid offer for english, etc. > atomic settlement when the auction closes, the winner’s funds plus the seller’s coldkey are swapped in one transaction: the contract broadcasts a transfer_coldkey call on subtensor and simultaneously releases the payment to the seller. If either leg fails, the whole swap reverts. > ownership handoff & unfreeze new owner’s hotkeys start heart-beating immediately; after a safety delay the contract “unfreezes” normal operations (staking, set-weights, unregister). seller walks away with funds, buyer now controls a live miner/validator slot along with its tao balance and weight history.
